progress, trades, vendors

going up anyone?

Well, it has been awhile since our last update but progress is still happening on the Silo House. We did take a short break in the summer but were back at it in September. The list of accomplishments for that trip were: rigid insulation in all the walls, plumbing and electrical lines in the walls were completed, gutters were installed, and the best part for me, the silo ceiling, walls, and stair treads were installed.

Below are some photos of the gutters and silo progress. Brad will post about the electrical and plumbing soon.

Our gutters were installed by Greg Green of Plateau Seamless Guttering. Greg did an awesome job! He worked diligently to make sure we had the correct material. And he communicated!!! Which sometimes is a rarity in the construction industry. He was available whenever we called or else got back with us quickly and arrived as promised. The work was performed in a professional manner and to our expectations.

The steel frames for the stair treads were fabricated by Stone Steel in Cookeville, TN. David Rippetoe was a genius in the production of all our steel items. You can see the tie rods here.

The silo and stair work was completed by Andy Gray and crew. It was good to have them all back on site!!! As usual the work was superb. And Andy wielded the chain saw like a circus freak. I am amazed to say the after the treads were in, there is no more than a 1/16″ difference between risers.

That trip lasted for three weeks. We are currently back up for at least two weeks and will have more to report. Hopefully in a much more timely manner.

Working on a Tennessee house from Louisiana is a tough job!
